Busy, Busy, Busy

Sorry I have not posted in forever.. I have been so busy there has been no time for anything. I went to the Sewing Expo last weekend in Novi, at the Rock Financial Show Place it was wonderful. I bought a new sewing machine, A Janome 6600P they were suppose to ship it but they called yesterday and asked if I wanted to pick it up.

So of course I did, but I have not even had time to take it out of the box, it is just killing me and I do not think I will have any time today either. I am going on a quilting retreat next weekend in Howell, MI it is sponsered by The Stitchery, I will be bringing my machine and will get to use it there. I can't wait!!! Hopefully I will get some projects finished and put up some pictures after.

Up at the Lake Labor Day Weekend 2009

This is the quilt I was working on up at the Lake Labor Day Weekend I only finished 8 blocks up there the power went out the first night we were there so I was not able to sew. I have finished the remaining blocks throughout the week. I am deciding on block placement and if I will make more blocks this is for the wonky log cabin quilt along on flicker with Quilt Dad.

The boys were having a great time splashing and dunking one another on the last trip out to the lake. The boat is being pulled out for the winter today and it is the last chance to enjoy the water.
My grandson spent the whole afternoon climbing up and down the ladder that is his new favorite thing to do.

We took Cooper out to the lake to see if he would like it. He really does not like it in the water but the boat ride was ok.

Savannah Cont.

The picture of me standing there waving the pillow at the fire alarm praying that the sprinklers won't go off in the room and that the fire department does not show up. The alarm stops I stop waving. The alarm starts again!!! I Wave the pillow again we open the door hoping to get fresh air in the room my arms are falling off. The alarm stops so I stop waving and the alarms goes off again I get my husband Doug to wave the Pillow until it finally goes off and stays off.

I will say one thing I do not know what will happen tomorrow but it will sure be interesting!!! Life is never boring with Aiden ... I just wish we would draw less attention sometimes.

We will sure have some interesting stories to tell Aiden when he grows up!!

Savannah just a short note.

This has been and interesting trip so far 2 days on the road to get to Savannah from Michigan. Aiden slept 2 1/2 hours ing two days. He is a terrible traveler and we are about to pull out our hair. We ate dinner at Paula Deens Resturant the Lady and Sons we tried to get in for lunch but were not able to get in til 5pm they seated us up on the 3rd floor. You have to take the elevator up. Aiden pushed the phone button on the elevator which called the Savannah Fire Department. They called to see if we needed help in the elevator we assured them that everything was fine that the baby just pushed the phone button.

The next day in the hotel room Aiden dialed the furnace/ac in the room all the way up without us realizing it and in about 1 minute we started to smell something burning and realized he turned the heat all the way up and the heat has probably never been on in Savannah where the temperature is 95 degrees. So you know how the furnace smells when you first start it for the season. Well our room smelled horrible like burning dust and hair which caused the fire alarm to go off at the hotel. So I am standing there waving a pillow at the fire alarm trying to get it to stop

Pinchusion

Just received the pincushion from threadling it is just wonderful. Thank you again. I will try to put a picture up later.

I have to get all five of us packed up for vacation today we are going to Savannah and Charleston and maybe Myrtle Beach. They are quite aways from Michigan and we have a one year old who will not sleep in his car seat and usually cries the whole time so we may not get further than a couple of hours away so this is a fly by the seat of our pants trip no reservations and see where we land?????

I also have to get the dog delivered to my sisters house she is watching the crazy puppy for us for the next 11 days but she lives an hour away, and I have to get my friend Loretta and I registered for a quilting retreat this morning it is first come first serve it register and there are always more people interested than spots wish me luck. There is never enough time to get every thing done.

Thanks again I love the pincushion. Hope to get a picture posted later.

Zig zag quilt along decisions?

This is the zig zag quilt I am working on, I am deciding on whether to add another border or or not. And if so which fabric? What ever fabric is not used for this top will probably be used for the second quilt made from left the over fabric.

I would like to use this quilt for picnics, the beach, fireworks, lots of outdoor fun. I am leaning towards the deep cherry fabric for the first quilt and the pink for the second quilt.
This second top was suppose to be the back of the zig zag quilt but is now going to be a quilt on its own and I am deciding what fabric to use for an additional border?

This is the full view of the second quilt made from left overs of the first quilt. If you have any suggestions please leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Zig zag quilt along borders or blocks?

Here are some pictures of the Spumoni (Zig Zag Quilt) that I am working on for the quilt along. I am trying to decide whether to add a border around the quilt or to make more blocks currently the quilt is approx. 50 x 52 so I am thinking I would like it to be about 10 inches larger all the way around.

I have more material left to make blocks but I am thinking of using the Pink cherry material to make the border. What do you think?
I think since the pink is on the end and in the middle it would balance it out a bit. If you have any suggustions please let me know.

Thanks for your help.

I Finally Did It!

I have been trying since yesterday to put The Old Red Barn Quilt Along Button on my new blog also just created yesterday. Now just to get some quilting stuff up. I still have a lot to learn but it is sometimes a challenge but that is also what makes it fun.

Of course I spent the weekend working on trying to figure this out and have missed out on a lot of quilting time.

I need to get to work on my zig zag quilt so that I do not get behind. These are my fabrics cut into the 5 inch squares I am calling this my spumoni quilt. It definitely reminds me of ice cream. I think I am going to go and have some right now then I will get back to work.

The Morning After

The morning after the big game night for Chase and Mark. I think that they stayed up most of the night and now this morning they are watching a movie while they are eating breakfast.

The game players addicted to the television screen. They need to get out and get some fresh air, we are all going swimming after they finish eating and watching their movie of course.

Sarah and Aiden are making funny faces for the camera, he definitely knows when the camera is out. He smiles with his face all scrunched up most of the time.

Chase's Birthday

Today was my sons 17th Birthday. He wanted his friend to spend the night and play video games. We went to King Kone and had some ice cream then drove to Block Busters to get a movie for them to watch while that ate pizza. He thought it was great.

We just put my grandson to bed, maybe I can get some sewing time in it is 11:30 and I would like to work on my zig zag quilt for the quilt along.

Every Bit Counts

I am just setting up this blog, and I am not sure what I am doing, but I am sure that no matter what in life or in quilting EVERY BIT COUNTS!
